Technic launcher getting stuck on downloading minecraft

It's not meant to be a recreation of any type of Pokemon game, but instead gives you an amazingly original Minecraft adventure experience with Pokemon on a beautifully crafted map.

When minecraft finally does start, it stays stuck on the window that says MOJANG. While stuck downloading or launching, everything else on my computer froze up, including internet. My brother, using a (cheap) Windows 8 laptop, was able to download the same modpacks quickly and was able to launch vanilla minecraft from it.
